The attention record · 1995–2026
Retrieved 26 October 2026
Infinitesimals Every country, every evening newscast, every search, every day since 1995: that book was never kept. Two counts were. Encyclopedia opens, every day from July 1, 2015, in 23 languages. And, for six broadcasters only, the share of captioned clips from 2009 to 2024.
Counted Human page-opens on the English Wikipedia and 22 other language editions, daily, July 1, 2015 through October 25, 2026. Spiders are excluded. The reader’s country is not in the data.
Partly counted Television captions for CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, BBC News, Al Jazeera, Deutsche Welle, RT, and a short run of NHK. Monthly, and only while each station was archived. Not peak time. Not a raw tally. Not any other country.
Not published Absolute web-search totals, by country, do not exist in public. Neither does peak-time news for the rest of the world, nor a daily series before these archives open. Those days stay blank. Filling them would be a fiction.
What the record can say An open is a person looking the article up. A supporter, an opponent, a student, and a journalist count the same. This is not a vote, and it is not affection.
Share of the five articles
47.8%
Trump’s opens, July 1, 2015 through October 25, 2026.
Days he led the five
3,188
of 4,135 measured days.
His ordinary day
73k
median opens. Obama 34k. Biden 24k.
The loudest day is November 9, 2016, 14,303,597 opens. The ten loudest days are 10.4% of his opens. The hundred loudest are 27.4%. The rest is the floor: on a typical day his article is still opened more than the other four.
In 2021, 2022, 2023, Biden had more opens than Trump. The lead belongs to whoever the news is about. It left when he left office, and it came back when he was the candidate and the president again.
English is 63.2% of his opens. The other 22 editions share the rest. A language is not a country.
On the pooled US cable captions, his loudest month is October 2016, 13.4% of archived clips. The middle month is 1.90%. That is a share of clips, not an audience, and not agreement. The television file ends in October 2024.
His share of the five, by year 2015 starts on July 1. 2026 stops on October 25.

What this is not It is not how many times a president was searched. Search engines do not publish absolute query counts, and they never did, in 1995 or now.
The television figure is not a mention count, and it is not the evening news. It is the percent of 15-second clips, on the stations named, whose captions contained the name in quotes. “President Bush,” without the W., is missed on purpose, so George H. W. Bush is not swept into his son’s line. That archive stops in October 2024. A separate global news index can count articles by the country of the outlet from 2017; it refused this retrieval under its rate limit, so those country totals are not shown.
It is not “the president” as a phrase. The five articles are Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and Joe Biden — the people who held the office across this span. A sentence that only says “the president” does not appear here.
Counts come from the Wikimedia pageviews API: all access methods, user traffic only, current article titles on the Wikidata sitelinks as of this retrieval. A renamed article can split its history, so a few editions (notably Russian for Bush, and Arabic for Trump) undercount the early years. October 25, 2026 may be a partial day. The feed lags.
